Leadership Summary

 

David H. Thornton

Mr. Thornton is the President, Climax Molybdenum Company and Senior Vice President, FM Mining Co.  Dave has held positions of increasing responsibility with Freeport-McMoRan and its predecessor companies since 1978.  He was previously Vice President, New Mexico Operations; President, Chino Mines Company, and President, Minera Candelaria in Chile. Dave holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Potsdam and completed the Executive Program at the University of Michigan Business School.  

 

James C. Handley

Mr. Handley is the Vice President, Global Operations.  Jim has held positions of increasing responsibility at mining and process plant business units within Freeport-McMoRan and its predecessor companies.  Prior to his current position, he served as President, Climax Engineered Materials.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Mexico.

 

Barbara J. Buck

Ms. Buck is the Vice President, Marketing and Sales.  Her responsibilities include the Climax Technology Center in Sahuarita, Arizona. Barbara joined Climax Molybdenum in 2005. She has held sales, marketing, and business management positions with Union Carbide, Amoco Chemical and UCB Chemical. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and completed the Wharton Senior Management Program.

 

Timothy J. Olson

Mr. Olson is the controller of Climax Molybdenum Company and is responsible for all financial matters related to Climax.  Tim has held several financial positions within Freeport-McMoRan and has been with Freeport-McMoRan since 1986.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and has completed an Executive Management Program at Thunderbird School of Global Management.

 

Fred J. Menzer

Mr. Menzer is the Vice President, Colorado Operations.  Prior to his current position, Fred served as Vice President, Freeport-McMoRan Africa; Vice-President, Global Operations, Climax Molybdenum Company;  General Manager, Henderson Operations; and General Manager, Chino Mines Company.  Fred holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from Western State College, a Master of Science degree in Geology from Colorado State University and completed the Advanced Executive Program at Kellogg Business School.  Fred joined the company in 1979.
 

Eileen Madden Mitchell

Ms. Mitchell is Director, Sales and Operations Planning.  Eileen joined the company in 2006.  In addition to directing Planning and Commercial Services at Climax Molybdenum, she is also responsible for Kinetics Corporation, a metal injection molding subsidiary of the company. Prior to her current position, Eileen has held various management positions with Amdahl, Cisco Systems and Blue Coat Systems.  She holds a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from California State University.
